Personal Educational PHILOSOPHY Statement
Education is a basic human right for every child. The role of an educator, however, is as far from basic as one can imagine. As teachers, we must understand the crucial and dynamic function which is expected of us each and every day. It is our responsibility to provide children with an invaluable education and support their holistic development. In order to be successful educators, we must thoroughly comprehend the impact and influence we have on the lives of our students.
Human relationships and personal values are two prized elements that dominate my life. I hope to bring these principles into the classroom with me. Building, maintaining and improving relationships is an important part of my daily life and I aim to continue this pursuit with my students. I personally believe that establishing human contact with your students is the preliminary step to creating a successful teaching and learning environment where all participants feel comfortable and safe. I aspire to teach and learn in an environment where I impart and share values such as honesty, care, lovingness, courage, decisiveness and a positive view of life with all those around me.
I aim to establish a progressive setting where a love of learning is instilled in all students. I intend to create an atmosphere that encourages students to stride for success and not to fear failure. I want my students to be successful and overcome difficulties while still being challenged and tested. I plan for my classroom to be a safe place to share cultures, religions, traditions and opinions without prejudice or judgment. I hope for my classroom to be a peer-supportive environment where each student respects and cares for their peers and their personal achievements and dreams.
I believe that continuously progressing our educational system is vital to preparing our students for the unknown future. Providing them with opportunities to gain hands-on experience such be our priority. Developing fundamental skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, working collaboratively and applying knowledge should be incorporated cross-curricular. I aim to develop enquiry learners, to empower my students and to allow them to lead their learning. I believe that this approach needs to be adopted through the school in order to be truly effective. Teachers should be co-operatively planning and teaching, sharing knowledge and expertise, support and guiding each other’s continuous development and growth as educators.
This statement comes from my own personal educational journey and my study of education which I am committed to continuing throughout my life-long career. This is my promise to myself and all my future students to be the best academic, personal and ethical role model that I can be. This is my vow to create opportunities for myself and my students to grow holistically; socially, cognitively, physically and emotionally. This is my pledge to education.
